Vasco da Gama’s titles speak for themselves: 4 league titles, 1 Libertadores, 1 Mercosul, 1 Brazilian Cup and many others. Religion also plays a big role for the club- you can see a big catholic chapel behind one of the goals at the stadium. A club that always played in black & white in order to fight against any sort of racism electing its first ‘non-white’ president in Brazil back in 1904. A club with strong Portuguese roots created first for rowing practice but later would adhere to many other sports and become huge in football. The Club de Regatas Vasco da Gama is a very traditional football club in Rio and Brazil. The lively crowd that makes its presence easily noticed – before, during and after the game – the heat of the moment, the passion for the goal in the reaction of each fan is what moves me and being able to provide this to others is very fulfilling for me! The opposite, south side of the venue would be largely open and with only one sunken tier of seating. The stadium itself would hold 55,000 people, of whom 15,000 would be able to stand throughout the game on a massive northern terrace with a single tier.
Smaller leisure facilities would make the area live daily as a vibrant destination. The complex would include an indoor arena for 5,000 people, open-air Olympic swimming pool and a hotel with 150 rooms.
